Users don't want to, but Microsoft says it has to. 🍋

Microsoft is set to automatically install the Microsoft 365 Copilot app on Windows 11 starting in October 2025, allowing Microsoft 365 users to install programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

This app serves as a Copilot access hub, and Microsoft 365's AI features appear in the Start Menu. Available immediately from power-up. Users do not have a button to cancel or reject the installation.

The update release will start from the beginning of October and is expected to finish in mid-November. Except for the countries in the European Economic Area (EEA) that will not be installed automatically, the enterprise side still has a choice. Admin can turn off the installation through Microsoft 365 Apps Admin Center. But for the average user, the only way to avoid it is to stop using Microsoft 365. Otherwise, you have to leave the app to install and then turn it off.

This force is part of Microsoft's massive effort with AI and wants to push Copilot to become a daily tool for the work of all Windows users. If anyone is a Productivity line, it might like to have Copilot available immediately. But if it were a Minimal line that wanted to keep the machine clean, this would be another bloatware that Microsoft crammed into without asking voluntarily.
