Old stuff, take it back again.

Who remembers? Back in 2007, Microsoft used to put a great feature called DreamScene in Windows Vista Ultimate Edition. It allowed us to set "video" as a wallpaper instead of a still image. It was very advanced at the time, but there were a lot of restrictions, including eating a lot of specs, only the top version, and finally disappeared from later Windows.

Most recently, someone with a good eye found that Windows 11 tested version, secretly inserted some features, could set MP4 files to a desktop background, or to re-dust the DreamScene concept. While Microsoft hasn't announced anything yet, it's a sign that it wants to add more gimmicks to Windows 11.

If the real thing is available, many people would like to wallpaper to move without relying on an add-on program like Wallpaper Engine. But the odds are whether Microsoft will adjust it to consume fewer resources than before. Because it wastes energy like Vista, it may not be suitable for notebooks or medium specs.
