Keep wires smoother than before
ASUS has just shown a new concept that allows PCIe x16 slots to power up to 250W directly to the screen card. This is an extension from the GC-HPWR that moved the wiring to the board instead of plugging it directly into the card. ASUS took this step further by empowering the PCIe slot through an 8-pin wire to the motherboard and sending the light into the slot. This makes a screen card that consumes no more than 250W of power, like the RTX 5060, available without additional wiring. The machine's integrity looks better immediately.

The operation is that ASUS adjusts the new PCIe slot. Add 12V power supply path on gold finger on both front and back. Use stable and thicker power conductor materials. Add 8-pin power connector to the motherboard to deliver more power. The total of slots can supply up to 250W directly. The demonstration also uses a concept TUF GeForce RTX 5060 Ti card that pulls ~ 248W of light from a pure slot and runs a benchmark comfortably without additional wire connection.

It sounds cool, but now it's just a concept. I don't know if it will be available for sale. And if you want to use it, both the motherboard, the screen card, and the PSU have to be designed to support it all. If you plug it in with an unsupported board, it still has only 75W of light. According to PCIe standards, you have to connect more wires as before.

However, this idea is consistent with ASUS's BTF (Back To Future / Back To Front) project, which moves the wires behind the motherboard to make the case look clean. Finally, the goal is to make the machine look clearer, easy to arrange and breathable. If it is a real product, it will be another step to make PC DIY neat and beautiful.
