Microsoft started releasing a new update to Windows 11 in the Dev and Beta Channel testers, adding a Shared Audio feature (Preview) that allows users to share audio from their computer to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously - headphones, speakers, earbuds, or hearing aids - with the ability to listen to the same sound without the same isolation device as before.

This feature runs on Bluetooth LE Audio broadcast technology, a new generation audio system that provides better sound quality, less power consumption, and more stable sound sync. It is suitable for watching movies, listening to music, or studying online with friends, such as playing the same music at the same time, or watching videos on a single machine but listening to a different pair of headphones. This feature only works with Bluetooth LE Audio compatible devices. Classic Bluetooth headphones cannot use this feature.

Shared Audio is now available in Copilot + PC models that use Qualcomm Snapdragon X chips, Surface Laptop and Surface Pro, both general and business models. Other models like the Samsung Galaxy Book5 Series, Book4 Edge, and some Surface models will soon be updated. For headphones and devices that support LE Audio, it's available in a variety of models, such as the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro, Buds3, Buds3 Pro, Sony WH-1000XM6, as well as hearing aids from ReSound and Beltone.

It's easy to use. Just connect two Bluetooth LE Audio devices to your computer and open the Quick Settings menu to select Shared audio (preview). To stop sharing, just press Stop sharing. This feature is open to those in the Windows Insider program and will expand to the general user in the future. Anyone who wants to try it before you can launch the "Get the latest update" option in Windows Update is another important step for Microsoft to make listening together even easier and more fluid.
