Microsoft overhauled Windows 11's Recovery system to make it faster and more convenient to recover, especially when a user has an update that causes a machine to crash, a skyscreen, a tillage driver, or a boot machine. New features like Point-in-Time Restore and Cloud Rebuild are designed to reduce downtime and allow both casual users and corporate admins to solve problems with almost no need to touch the machine.

Point-in-Time Restore, or PITR, is an upgrade from the traditional System Restore. It stores snapshots of the entire system at each time, like the game's Auto Save. It covers files, apps, settings, and system files. It makes it possible to go back in time before the machine has problems in a few minutes. It's perfect for solving problems after updates or faulty contexts, and Microsoft is preparing to try out Windows Insider users soon.

Another feature is Cloud Rebuild, which allows the admin to instantly launch a new Windows from the cloud, even if the machine is broken to nothing without visiting the page. It automatically downloads Windows installation files from the cloud and down the new system. Autopilot, OneDrive, and Windows Backup then retrieve the data, apps, and settings. This makes the machine repair time from hours to tens of minutes.

Microsoft also improved Quick Machine Recovery to solve boot machine problems not more accurately and faster, through a single scan in WinRE that automatically analyzes the cause and solves it, such as withdrawing updates or problematic drivers.

All of the features are part of the Windows Resiliency Initiative and will begin to be released for practical use in the first half of 2026, helping Windows 11 become a better self-salvaging system than ever, unified.
