This event mirrored opportunistic problems during a period when the memory market, DDR5 in particular, was facing heavy shortages and consistently rising prices, causing the online market to once again become the target of dishonest sellers.

The case was published on Reddit by a user named Leading-Growth-8361, who stated that he ordered a Corsair Vengeance DDR5 ram, but when he received the product, it was found that the ram could not fit on the DDR5 motherboard. The heat sink also looked unusually loose. On closer inspection, it was found that the groove position on the ram did not match the DDR5 standard, and when the heat sink was removed, it was actually a DDR4 ram. There was no brand stuffed as DDR5 to fool the sale.

According to experts, cheats like this are making a comeback because of the global crisis in short supply, causing the rapid rise in RAM prices, similar to the historical lack of screen cards, where hardware cheating has occurred frequently.

The Uniko's Hardware website recommends the simplest and safest way to check the notch position on the ram copper strip. Because DDR4 and DDR5 clearly have different groove positions and cannot fit together. If the product is received, it is found that the groove does not match the slot. Stop using it immediately and proceed to request a return without forcing installation.
