The original certificate is planned to expire in January 2027. Without the update, these features may not be available, or in some cases may result in unactivation.

Devices that have been the result of this update include the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, as well as the first-generation iPad Air, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, and the 6th-generation iPod touch, all of which are devices that only support operating systems up to iOS 12, making this update a "renewal" to still have access to Apple's basic services for years to come.

The iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 had previously received their last security update in January 2023, and this case also reflects Apple's approach of often overseeing older devices beyond the announced minimum period, as well as the iPhone 6s still receiving security updates despite a lifetime of more than 11 years.

For those who still keep these older devices, it is recommended to update the software through Settings > General > Software Update so that they can continue to use key features in the future, even if they do not support modern apps like Bank Apps.
