In the past, when the registry .pol had a problem, the system actually saved Event ID 1096 in the System log, but the message was often wide and did not clearly indicate the cause. It only said that the processing failed, causing the IT team to waste time checking that it was caused by a broken file, not enough permissions, other software to edit it, or even a disk problem. The etiology could last several hours, especially in large organizations with many machines.

A recent update solves this weakness by adding details to the original Event 1096. It does not create a new code, but fills in the Details tab more specifically, such as indicating that the file has an incorrect signature or that an error occurred in opening the file with a clear error code, which is often associated with permission or file access issues, allowing administrators to know the editing direction immediately.

While it's just about increasing log messages, for corporate tasks, this is a significant reduction in workload, a faster solution, a reduction in the risk of policy error on multiple machines.
