Believe that when we plug Flash Drive into a machine other than a Windows computer, such as a Mac, TV, or car audio, many people will have "invisible" or "unreadable" problems. The main reason is that Windows often uses NTFS-style partitions by default, which other systems do not support. If you want to plug them in and use almost every device, you have to format FAT32 instead.

But the problem is that FAT32 itself is a very old file system. It has been used since the Windows 95 era until now. Microsoft still has to issue exFAT as a new intermediary to solve many of its limitations. Even better, there are still a lot of devices that support only FAT32.

Now, the big problem with FAT32 is the "32GB restriction" that makes it impossible to format large drives, even if Flash Drive or External Storage exceed 32GB has become common.

Most recently, Microsoft started solving this problem in the new Windows 11 Insider build (versions 26220 and 26300), adding the ability to format up to 2TB of large FAT32 through Command Line (CMD) commands. It unlocks the original restrictions that have been with Windows for more than 30 years.

In fact, FAT32 theoretically supported this level of capacity in the first place, but Windows was limited to 32GB. Because in the Windows 95 era, it was considered that 32GB was "more than enough" and was not designed to support it larger, and no one changed it, so it has been used for a long time to date.

But this unlock is still not the best, because Microsoft only solves Command Line. The regular format tool in Windows (GUI) still has the same 32GB restriction. Users may still rely on the same method or use additional commands.

In addition to FAT32, this round of updates has some minor improvements, such as speeding up storage displays on large drives and fixing internet display bugs that used to be distorted on some machines, but these are all just add-ons compared to the unlocking of FAT32 that is a major highlight of this round.
