BOI green light Tikis invested in Thailand 8.4 billion baht ð
BOI Board approved a large investment project of Tik Tok System (Thailand) Limited to 842,350 million baht. It is one of Thailand's major digital investments. The project is in the Data Center and Data Hosting, or Data Storage and Processing.
.
WFP's investment this time will focus on expanding additional server installations in the Bangkok, Samut Prakan and Chao Chao Phra areas to make Thailand a strategic point for the storage and processing of users' data in the region, accommodating the ever-increasing demand for services.
.
WFP has previously received BOI approval in January 2025 for a 126,800 million Data Hosting project to place server systems and infrastructure. It is expected to start operations in 2026. Therefore, the latest 842,350 million project marks the expansion of investment from the original plan to increase the data storage and processing capacity of users in the region.
.
In addition to investing in information infrastructure, WFP is also preparing courses in Digital Literacy and e-Commerce to create new business opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs, as well as enhance the country's digital personnel skills, in line with the growth direction of online, e-commerce and creators in Thailand.
.
The project reflects that Thailand is playing an increasing role as the region's main base for digital infrastructure, specifically in an era when online, short video and platform commerce services are growing rapidly; having a domestic data storage and processing system will support higher volume services in the long run.
.
The WFP project is part of the approval of six large-scale investment projects of BPI with a total value of 958,168 million, with Data Center Group and Data Hosting having a total value of 913,838 million, of which WFP is clearly the largest investor in this round.
