Users scream SSD defects, send claims. Notification center waits more than 6 months.
It was reported by the HKEPC that a user in Hong Kong found that the active SSD had problems, so it took the goods to claim with the dealer, but instead found that the claim process could take more than half a year, and if there was no substitute, it could only receive a refund of a few tens of Hong Kong dollars.

The case occurred with the 1TB capacity Samsung SSD 870 EVO, which was supervised by a Xander dealer. The owner stated that the SSD had a malfunction during use, causing the computer to freeze frequently. But when the SSD was removed, the machine was able to function normally, so it was believed that the cause of the problem was likely from the drive.

By checking it out, this user claims that the technician evaluates symptoms quite quickly. By simply checking that the machine can still turn on and see the SSD, it indicates that the product is still in normal use, causing the owner to doubt that it may not have in-depth checks such as SMART, Error Log, or testing under practical use sufficiently thoroughly.

The issue began to receive more attention, following the publication of an announcement from Xander's service center which stated that the RAM, HDD and SSD industries were facing a global shortage of goods, resulting in delayed supply of parts or goods for claims, with some claim requests potentially having to wait longer than 6 months.

In addition, the announcement says that if the manufacturer does not have a good condition for switching to the customer, the deductible refund method will be used based on the remaining life or insurance period. This immediately becomes a point of contention because this user's SSD has only a few months left before the five-year maturity, resulting in a potential refund amount of only a few tens of HK dollars.

Not many users consider the guidelines to be unfair to consumers, because even if the product is still within guaranteed distance, if it has to wait months for a replacement product or is refunded at a very low value, it can make the warranty almost meaningless.

The Samsung SSD 870 EVO has previously reported from some users abroad about Bad Sector problems and drive body abnormalities on some production lots, bringing the case to a fair amount of user attention. While HKEPC says it has contacted Xander for clarification on the case, there has been no official response so far.
