Stop cramming Bing's search results on Windows 11.
Many people may have been frustrated with the Windows search system because the time to find apps, files, or local settings was rarely found, or the results did not match what they wanted, but instead introduced the results from Bing into a disturbing experience and caused many users to stop using Windows Search.

Previously, one of the solutions that many people chose was to customize the Registry to disable Bing's results from Windows Search, causing the system to focus on searching only what was on the machine first, not wasting time waiting for a web connection, and not being inserted by online results on what it really wanted to search.

Most recently, Microsoft seems to have begun to solve this problem seriously, with improvements to the Search system on Windows 11 to more accurately search for local apps and files. Especially in cases where users have mistyped, misspelled or mistyped the name of an app, the system can still guess and show close results instead of rushing users to Bing results like before.

This new feature was found in Windows 11 Insider Build 26300.8687. Microsoft says that Windows Search will support more flexible search. For example, if a user types utlook, the system can still find Outlook or type pwerp, it can also display PowerPoint, making it easier to open an app through the Search box without needing to type every name correctly.

In addition to solving typos, Microsoft redefined the display order, making local apps, files, and settings more important than web search results. This was a response to the murmurs of Windows 11 users who often did not find local program search problems, but instead carried to Bing results.

Another interesting point is that Microsoft is testing options to disable Bing results and instructions from the Microsoft Store directly within the Settings page. However, these features are still in testing with Windows Insider users, and there has been no confirmation of when they will be released to casual users, but if Microsoft actually goes ahead with this plan, Windows Search on Windows 11 may return as a more convenient and user-friendly local search engine; the latter has been criticized for its years-long tie-in with Bing.
