According to TrendForce, Contract Price during Q2 2026 rose 55-60% compared to the previous quarter and will likely rise further in the next quarter if the situation remains the same.

This is mainly due not to the increase in demand for DDR2 directly, but to the continuing impact of the AI stream that has led major memory manufacturers around the world - Samsung, SK hynix and Micron - to commit capacity to high-performance memory like HBM and DRAM for AI servers with much higher value and profit.

As factories were divided to produce newer memory and more profitable products, the capacity of older RAM like DDR2 declined as well. While demand for DDR2 has not yet disappeared, there are many industrial devices that rely on this type of RAM, such as factory control systems, network equipment, medical equipment, automotive systems, and Embedded System devices.

In other words, people who need to use DDR2 still have to buy the same thing, but the things that are produced have returned less than before. When the goods are fewer, the demand remains, the prices rise quickly.
