YOU GUYS 😭😭😭 the basement DIY hockey rink is DONE!! I freaking built that! It’s honestly even cooler than I imagined… I cannot believe that my two boys get to say that their mom built at a hockey rink in the basement! 😍
this project challenged me in so many ways and brought back so many flashbacks to when I was building the treehouse and just wanted to quit. All of the hardship was worth it when I got to see the smiles on their little faces. We are going to make so many memories down here!
WHAT DO YOU THINK!? Who wants to come hang? 🤙🏼
Building a DIY basement hockey rink is a truly rewarding experience, especially when driven by the desire to create special moments for your children. From planning the layout to selecting the right materials, every step offers unique challenges and learning opportunities. Personally, I found that patience and perseverance were key—similar to building other big projects like a treehouse, the process can be tough, but the rewards are worth it. Something important to keep in mind is the importance of safety and functionality. Ensuring the rink surface is smooth and properly insulated can make a huge difference in usability and longevity. Additionally, incorporating features like side boards and netting can provide a more authentic play experience. I also learned that engaging your family during the build not only makes the work lighter but adds excitement and anticipation for everyone involved. Celebrating small victories during the project keeps motivation high. Incorporating creative elements such as personalized signage or lighting can make your basement rink even more special. Remember, this is more than just a DIY project; it's a place where countless memories will thrive. If you’re considering a similar project, take inspiration from others who have done it—like this remarkable mom who overcame obstacles to build a space where her boys can play and grow. Don’t hesitate to share your progress and challenges with a community, as support and advice are invaluable. Above all, enjoy the experience, because in the end, the smiles on your children's faces and the time spent together are the best rewards of all.

You are a great mother !! And your husband also.
