5 Careers After A Computer Science Degree!!

✨If you were wondering if getting a Computer Science degree is actually worth it, then the best way to find out is to look at the jobs you can get with it!

If any of these jobs sound interesting to you then you might want to look at getting a CS degree!

I am in my third year as a CS student and I am so happy every day with my decision to pick this major! I think that it has the most options out of school an dit has already provided me with countless opportunities to advance my career, work as a freelancer, and even start my own business!

👩🏻‍💻UX Designer - This job is great if you love working on tech and the front end of websites but you aren't the most interested in coding. Instead you can design how the user will interact with a website or an app!

📈Data Scientist - Essentially what a DS does is analyzes and interprets data to help companies predict things and make informed decisions! It is very math heavy but pays super well!!

💻Software Developer - This is probably the most common job after a CS degree. You will basically be designing, coding and testing software for a company!

🚨Cybersecurity Analyst - This role is becoming increasingly more popular, especially among women! You basically work on protecting a companies computer systems. You can also act as a detective and investigate cyber crimes and attacks!

👾AI Engineer - This is a hot role right now and for good reason (6 figure starting salary!). This would be great for anyone who is passionate about robotics, machine learning, and neural networks. Very sciency but also very cool!!

💭Let me know in the comments if you're considering CS and if you have any questions about the field!

... Read moreWhen I was first diving into the world of computer science, the biggest question on my mind was, 'What jobs can I actually get with this degree?' It's a common thought, especially when you're investing so much time and effort into your studies. After talking to professionals, researching trends, and even gaining some personal experience, I've seen firsthand why a Computer Science degree opens doors to some of the most exciting and in-demand careers out there. Many of us hear about 'software developers' but the field is so much broader! For instance, the original article touched on UX Designer roles. While it's true you don't always code directly, a CS background is invaluable for understanding system architecture and technical limitations. This can significantly enhance your design decisions. Plus, the average salary for a UX Designer, as I've seen, often falls into a competitive range, making it a very lucrative path for those who enjoy creativity combined with problem-solving. Then there's the Data Scientist. This role is a fantastic fit if you love working with numbers and uncovering insights. The OCR mentioned their salary potential, and it's no wonder – these professionals are crucial for businesses making data-driven decisions. What's often overlooked is the blend of programming (Python, R), statistics, and communication skills needed. It's not just about crunching numbers; it's about telling a story with them. From my perspective, gaining experience with data analysis tools and understanding machine learning fundamentals during your degree can give you a huge advantage. Software Development remains a cornerstone, and for good reason. It's a versatile path that lets you build everything from mobile apps to complex enterprise systems. The salary ranges mentioned by the OCR are definitely attainable, and the continuous learning involved keeps the job engaging. For aspiring developers, building a strong portfolio of personal projects and contributing to open source can be just as important as your coursework. Cybersecurity Analyst is another rapidly growing field. With digital threats constantly evolving, companies desperately need experts to protect their systems. It's like being a digital detective, and the problem-solving aspect is incredibly fulfilling. I've learned that certifications alongside your CS degree can really boost your prospects here. Finally, AI Engineer is incredibly hot right now. The potential for innovation in AI and machine learning is boundless, and the starting salaries often reflect that high demand. If you're fascinated by robotics, neural networks, and creating intelligent systems, this is a path with immense future growth. Exploring specialized courses or projects in AI during your studies can be a game-changer. Ultimately, a Computer Science degree isn't just a piece of paper; it's a launchpad into a future filled with innovation, challenging problems, and excellent career opportunities. From my journey so far, I can confidently say it's more than worth it, offering limitless possibilities to shape your professional life.
