... Read moreOMG, you guys, I'm still pinching myself because I found out you can really learn computer science for FREE! Like, seriously high-quality education that usually costs a fortune. I've been looking for ways to boost my tech skills without breaking the bank, and these FREE ONLINE COURSES (computer science edition) are a game-changer. I saw a graphic listing 'Free CS Courses' and just had to share my excitement and what I've learned about them so far! First up, of course, is Harvard's CS50. Everyone talks about it, and for good reason! It’s available through edX, and it's an incredible introduction to computer science. If you're a beginner, this is where you start. It covers foundational topics like algorithms, data structures, and programming in languages like Python, C, and SQL. It’s challenging but incredibly rewarding. I'm planning to dive into the CS50x edX interface myself soon, and I've heard it really sets you up for success in pretty much any tech path you choose. Imagine learning from Harvard for absolutely nothing! Then there’s MIT OpenCourseWare. This is another powerhouse for free learning. I was specifically looking for resources on Python and algorithms, and MIT has so much to offer. Their MIT OpenCourseWare Python courses are fantastic for getting a solid grasp of the language. I've also heard amazing things about their MIT OpenCourseWare Algorithms course and even their MIT OpenCourseWare Mathematics for Computer Science. It’s like having access to actual MIT lectures and materials, which is just mind-blowing. While it's more self-directed, it's perfect if you're motivated to learn at your own pace. I'm excited to explore their MITx Introduction to Computer Science and Programming Using Python too, it seems like a great next step after CS50. And we can’t forget FreeCodeCamp! This platform is a goldmine for practical, project-based learning. If you're into web development, their FreeCodeCamp for web design curriculum is comprehensive. But what really caught my eye are their more advanced paths. They have detailed courses like the FreeCodeCamp machine learning course, which I'm super keen to try, and even a FreeCodeCamp deep learning course. For anyone interested in data, their FreeCodeCamp data science course looks incredibly thorough, covering everything from data analysis to visualization. I've heard great things about their scientific computing with Python FreeCodeCamp track as well. They also have an algorithms course that complements what you learn in CS50 or MIT. The best part is you build a portfolio as you learn, which is so practical for job searching! Finally, for data enthusiasts, Kaggle's Data Science Courses are a must. While not a full curriculum like FreeCodeCamp, Kaggle offers short, focused courses on specific data science topics, plus a huge community for competitions and learning from others. It's the perfect place to get hands-on experience and apply what you’re learning from other platforms. My personal tip for tackling these is to create a study schedule, even if it's just an hour a day. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with so many amazing Free CS Courses available, so pick one or two to start and really focus. Don't be afraid to ask questions in forums or look for study groups. This journey is so much more fun when you share it! I'm genuinely thrilled about these resources and can’t wait to see what I can achieve. If you're thinking of starting your CS journey, these FREE ONLINE COURSES are truly a gift. Let me know if you try any of them!
