Desde los campamentos ocultos.
En Miami existen campamentos clandestinos que la mayoría de las personas no ve.
Están escondidos entre montes, debajo de puentes y en zonas donde el dolor pasa desapercibido.
Hemos lanzado una estrategia clara: rescatar a mujeres que viven en estos campamentos, ofrecerles apoyo, orientación y un camino real hacia la reintegración con sus familias y con la comunidad.
Para lograrlo, estamos trabajando también con hombres que viven dentro de esos mismos campamentos. Personas que conocen la realidad desde adentro y que hoy están dispuestos a convertirse en colaboradores voluntarios.
Uno de ellos es “El Charla”.
Ya hemos contactado a varios en distintos puntos de la ciudad, y muchos están listos para ayudarnos a convencer a estas mujeres de que sí existe una salida.
Porque el cambio no siempre empieza desde afuera.
A veces empieza desde adentro.

Living conditions within Miami's hidden camps are often overlooked by the public, yet they represent a critical challenge for social workers and volunteers. Having personally engaged with several outreach programs, I understand that true change requires trust built over time. Working with men and women who have firsthand experience living in these camps creates a bridge of understanding that outsiders cannot easily establish. In one camp beneath a bridge, volunteers and I observed how crucial it is to offer not just immediate aid but sustained guidance. Women were more receptive when approached by peers who once faced similar hardships. This peer collaboration fosters hope and shows that recovery and family reunification are possible. Volunteers like "El Charla" serve as beacons inside these communities, advocating for change and facilitating communication with external support networks. Their insider status helps dispel the sense of isolation residents often feel. Supporting these programs involves recognizing the nuanced dynamics within the camps—the pain, resilience, and desires of the individuals who call them home.
