This time, I went 3 weeks instead of 2 and it shows 😂
✨I’ve had this set on since the end of March on my birthday and I’ve just been getting fills every 2 weeks since then. Since my nails have grown out so much, I decided to get the acrylics off and see what my natural nails are working with.
✨My go-to shape is coffin 100% of the time and if I have my natural nails I do something between coffin and square. I’ve never done almond before but I was talking with my tech and telling her I’m starting to wonder if I should explore something different because my fingers are long but my nail beds are on the short side. She suggested I try almond so I said why not 🤷🏾♀️
✨I absolutely looooove how they came out and almond may be my new shape. I definitely like how my fingers look better with the almond shape. When I get acrylics again, I will probably stick to coffin just because I’m basically married to that shape 😂 but who knows maybe I will explore almond on acrylics as well.
✨I wanted a pastel color since tomorrow is Mother’s Day, but I didn’t want pink because had pink before my purple set. Originally I was going to do white chrome, but thought yellow chrome would be nice so I went with that.
✨Overall I’m loving my nails and I’m thinking about rocking my natural nails through the summer and just going back to acrylics when fall hits.
... Read moreSo, I'm absolutely buzzing about my latest nail transformation, and I wanted to spill all the details and share some extra tips for anyone thinking about a similar change! Going from my usual coffin acrylics to these beautiful natural almond-shaped nails with a pastel yellow chrome finish has been such a refreshing journey, especially heading into summer.
First, let's talk about the magic of pastel yellow chrome nails. If you're wondering how to get that dreamy, iridescent glow, it's all thanks to chrome powder. After your nail tech applies a base color (in my case, a soft, light yellow), they'll rub a superfine chrome powder over it, often sealed with a top coat. This creates that stunning, mirror-like effect that just catches the light perfectly. For anyone curious about different shades, while I went for a lovely pastel yellow, you could also explore a more vibrant baby yellow chrome or even a gold chrome for a different vibe. Choosing the right yellow can also depend on your skin tone – warmer yellows often pop beautifully on cooler skin tones, and vice-versa. Don't be afraid to swatch a few different shades before committing!
Then there's the big shape switch! I've been a die-hard fan of coffin-shaped nails for ages, and as my previous set showed, they served me well even with some significant natural nail growth underneath. But after talking to my tech about how my long fingers sometimes felt shortened by my nail beds, she suggested almond-shaped nails. And wow, what a difference! The tapered, elegant look of almond really elongates the fingers and gives such a chic, sophisticated feel. If you have longer fingers or find your nail beds are on the shorter side like mine, trying almond could be a game-changer. It's a softer alternative to the sharp edges of coffin or square and surprisingly durable, even on natural nails.
Speaking of natural nails, making the switch after having acrylics for so long was a bit daunting, but I'm so glad I did! If you're planning to transition, be prepared for your natural nails to feel a little weaker at first. Mine had some serious length from underneath my old set, but a good removal process is key. I've found that using a nail strengthener regularly, keeping them moisturized with cuticle oil, and filing them gently into my desired almond shape has made all the difference. It's all about nurturing them back to health. For anyone looking for “yellow nails natural” or “natural yellow nails” inspiration, remember that a healthy canvas is the best foundation for any polish, especially lighter shades like pastel yellow chrome that can highlight nail imperfections.
Finally, for those looking for spring nail inspiration, pastel yellow chrome is just one fantastic option! Spring is all about fresh starts and vibrant colors. Beyond yellow, light blues, mint greens, lavenders (like the light purple iridescent set I had before!), and even soft oranges (think light orange chrome nails) are also gorgeous choices. If you want to add a little extra flair to your “yellow chrome nails designs,” consider a subtle accent nail with some delicate floral art, or even try a yellow chrome french tip for a modern twist on a classic. It’s amazing how a simple nail refresh can boost your mood!
I hope sharing my experience and these extra tips helps you in your own nail journey. Don't be afraid to experiment with new colors and shapes – you might just find your new favorite look like I did!
