Where are all my single/solo mommies? 🙋🏾♀️
💕 I’ve been a solo mom pretty much since my daughter was born. She is 2. Have times been hard? Absolutely. 100%. The hardest and most critical job I’ve ever been faced with. But has every moment been special and rewarding? 1000000%
💕 The reason I consider myself a solo mom instead of a single mom is because I am not single. My daughter’s father and I have been together for almost 7 years; never broke up, took breaks or anything. At the time she was born, he was an over the road truck driver. And if you know, you know. They’re gone ALL THE TIME. He was there for her birth and took paternal leave to stay with us for a month and a half. After that, it was all me. And it’s been that way ever since. I resigned from my job when it was almost time for me to return from maternity leave, and I became a stay at home mom.
💕 I don’t like using the term single mom because during that whole time, he would come off of the road every 2 weeks and stay with us for about 4 days or however long he wanted. The bills were paid. All I had to do was take care of the baby. YES IT WAS VERYYYY HARD. But I don’t think it’s fair to say I was a single mom because he did his part, and I did mine. I think me calling myself a single mom is unfair to women who really are doing it completely on their own.
💕 But I like the term solo mom because while I didn’t have to worry about bills, the responsibility of taking care of a little human being has 100% ALWAYS been on me. So I feel like it’s fair to recognize while yes, a lot of the burden was taken off of me financially, taking care of a baby alone is hard, lonely, and mentally challenging.
💕If you are going through motherhood alone or with minimal help, never let anyone take anything away from you. You are doing GREAT. You are doing your BEST. People will always be opinionated when it comes to single/solo moms, but just know you are not alone and your baby loves you and all of your hard work! ☺️💖

Being a solo mom or raising a child with minimal support can be incredibly challenging, both mentally and physically. From my experience, establishing a daily routine helped me manage stress and ensure my daughter felt secure even when I felt overwhelmed. One thing that made a big difference was reaching out to other moms, whether online or in local groups. Sharing our struggles and tips creates a community that lifts each other up. It's okay to admit when you're tired or frustrated – vulnerability is part of this journey. I also learned to celebrate small victories, like getting through a tough day or seeing my daughter learn something new. These moments remind me why all the hard work matters. Financially, having a partner who contributes while away was a relief, but the constant responsibility of parenting alone during his absence remains demanding. To any solo or minimally supported moms reading this, take time to care for yourself too, even if it's brief moments throughout the day. Remember, your baby feels your love and strength every single day, and that bond is unbreakable. The term "solo mom" resonates with me because while I’m not single in relationship status, the caregiving has been primarily on my shoulders. We're all doing the best we can, and that effort is admirable and enough.
