London afternoon tea time experience 🫖

I probably scrolled TikTok for HOURS looking for the perfect afternoon tea time during our trip to London last spring. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

We finally decided on The Rosebery located in Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London 💗

We wanted a fancier experience and to explore Hyde Park after. It was incredible!! Expensive, but incredible. 😍

There are definitely great, less expensive options out there, but if you’re in the mood to treat yo’self, we highly recommend The Rosebery for an afternoon tea experience. 🫖🌷☔️

... Read moreMy recent afternoon tea at The Rosebery in Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park was truly a highlight of my London trip, and it got me thinking about what makes a British afternoon tea so special. If you're planning your own elegant afternoon tea experience, there's so much to consider to make it perfect! First off, let's talk about the classic British afternoon tea menu. It's more than just a cuppa; it's a delightful multi-course affair. You'll typically start with a selection of delicate finger sandwiches, usually with traditional fillings like cucumber, smoked salmon, egg mayonnaise, or coronation chicken. These savoury bites are just the beginning! Next come the scones – warm, fluffy, and absolutely essential. They're usually served with generous dollops of clotted cream and a variety of homemade jams. And finally, the pièce de résistance: an array of exquisite pastries and desserts. From tiny tarts to intricate cakes and delicate macarons, each sweet treat is a work of art. At The Rosebery, I was captivated by their offerings; the 'lavender macaron' I had was incredibly cute and yummy! And of course, the tea itself is paramount. Many places, like The Rosebery, offer an extensive menu of loose-leaf teas, from classic Earl Grey to lighter, fruitier teas, and even unique options like the beautiful 'Butterfly Pea Flower tea' we started with. It's a sensory journey! What truly contributes to an 'afternoon tea experience elegant' is the ambiance and attention to detail. At The Rosebery, the 'luxurious decor' and 'elegant dining area' immediately set a sophisticated tone. Large windows offer city views, and the comfortable seating makes you feel completely pampered. Every detail, from the pristine 'white and gold teacup and saucer' to the beautifully presented food, screams luxury. I loved how they even offered a special touch like a 'Happy Birthday' message written in chocolate on a dessert plate for celebrations – it's those little things that elevate the experience from great to unforgettable. The overall feeling of sipping tea from an elegant teacup in such a setting is just pure bliss. With so many incredible options, you might wonder, 'which is the best afternoon tea in London?' The truth is, "best" really depends on what you're looking for! If you're after a truly opulent and traditional experience with impeccable service and gourmet food, then places like The Rosebery at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park are absolutely top-tier. However, London also offers a vast range of other afternoon teas – from themed experiences to more casual, contemporary settings, or even budget-friendly options. When choosing, consider your budget, the kind of atmosphere you prefer (traditional grandeur or modern chic?), and if you have any dietary requirements. Always check their menu online beforehand. A few practical tips for your own London afternoon tea adventure: booking in advance, especially for popular spots like The Rosebery, is almost always necessary. Dress smart-casual to feel comfortable and appropriate in most elegant venues. And most importantly, go with an open mind and be ready to savor every moment. It's not just a meal; it's a cherished British tradition and a wonderful way to create lasting memories. So, treat yourself – you deserve it!
