Christmas Tree Charcuterie Board
Bring festive cheer to your table with this visually stunning and delicious charcuterie board shaped like a Christmas tree! A perfect blend of colors, textures, and flavors to delight your holiday guests.
Ingredients
Tree Layers:
1½ pounds of crisp green grapes, separated into long clusters
8 ounces of juicy red grapes
5 ripe kiwi, peeled, halved lengthwise, and sliced
6 ounces of fresh raspberries (or substitute with 9 ounces of cherry-infused Craisins)
5 ounces of salted roasted pistachios, or raw for a vibrant green hue (pumpkin seeds work too!)
1 (10-ounce) jar of Castelvetrano olives, drained and ready to serve
Cheeses and Meats:
5 blocks (8 ounces each) of assorted white cheeses, such as creamy Havarti, nutty Manchego, velvety Fontina, or sharp white cheddar
14 ounces of salami nuggets, mix spicy and fennel-flavored for variety
Extras:
6 long sprigs of fresh rosemary, for a pine-like visual and aromatic touch
½ cup of candied or plain pecans, to form the “tree stump”
6 ounces of crisp water crackers, for a crunchy base beneath the tree
Star Topper:
A star-shaped cheese piece, cut using a cookie cutter (use a sharp cheese like cheddar or gouda for easier cutting)
Instructions
Prep the Cheeses:
Cut two cheese blocks into small cubes.
Slice two more blocks into wedges.
Use a star-shaped cookie cutter to cut the final block into a star for the tree topper. Reserve any leftover scraps for cubed pieces. Chill until assembly.
Create the Tree Base:
Use a clean, flat surface (28x20 inches) or a large board, placing parchment paper underneath if desired.
Form the base layer of the tree with clusters of green grapes, arranged to create a wide triangle. Dot with sprigs of rosemary and red grapes for pops of color.
Add the Stump:
Leave a small gap in the bottom middle and fill it with pecans to mimic the stump of the tree.
Layer the Tree:
Alternate rows of ingredients to form the tree, working upwards in this order:
First layer: Cubed and wedge-shaped cheeses.
Second layer: Salami nuggets.
Third layer: Sliced kiwi.
Fourth layer: Raspberries or Craisins.
Repeat with the remaining cheeses, salami, and other ingredients, leaving room for the olives at the top.
Top and Finish:
Place pistachios or pumpkin seeds near the top, and finish with a layer of olives as the tree’s “tip.”
Add the cheese star at the peak.
Ground the Tree:
Spread crackers at the base of the tree to complete the design.
Serve and Enjoy:
Serve immediately or within two hours to ensure the freshness of the ingredients.
When I'm putting together a show-stopping charcuterie board, especially for the holidays, one thing I absolutely can't skip is a generous amount of fresh grapes. They're not just filler; they bring so much to the table, both in taste and how beautiful the board looks! For this Christmas Tree Charcuterie Board, green and red grapes are total game-changers. The crisp sweetness of the green grapes cuts through the richness of the cheeses and savory salami perfectly. Then you have the red grapes – their slightly tarter, juicier burst adds another layer of flavor that really makes everything pop. Visually, they're pure magic! The vibrant green and deep red are naturally festive, instantly giving that holiday cheer we're all looking for. My little secret for the best grapes? Always pick them firm and plump, with no wrinkles or soft spots. I usually give them a good rinse under cold water and then gently pat them dry. For a charcuterie board, I prefer to keep some in small clusters – they look so much more inviting and are easier for guests to grab. Others, I might pluck off individually to scatter around, especially when I'm layering them like we do for this tree design. It’s all about creating that inviting, abundant feel for your holiday guests, and the various sizes of grape clusters really help achieve that dynamic look. Now, let's talk pairings! Grapes are incredibly versatile. With creamy cheeses like Havarti or Fontina, their sweetness is a dream. And with sharper cheddar or aged Manchego, the contrast is just divine. I love how a bite of salty salami followed by a juicy red grape cleanses the palate. Don't forget nuts like pistachios (just like in our recipe!) or candied pecans; the crunch with the grape's juiciness is fantastic. Sometimes, I even lightly roast a few grapes to bring out an even deeper sweetness – a little gourmet touch you could try for future boards! And if you're feeling extra fancy, try freezing a few green grapes; they make a wonderful, refreshing bite. While our Christmas tree shape is super fun and definitely gets those "AMAZING!" reactions, think about other ways to incorporate grapes on any charcuterie board. You can create little 'grape rivers' flowing between cheese blocks, or make small colorful piles in empty spaces. For a truly festive touch for Christmas, I sometimes lightly dust a few grape clusters with edible glitter or powdered sugar right before serving – it looks like fresh snowflakes! It really elevates the visual appeal and makes them feel extra special for the holiday season. The key is to make them easily accessible and visually appealing alongside your olives, kiwi, and other delectable treats. So next time you're planning your board, remember the humble grape isn't just a garnish. It's a star player that adds freshness, flavor, and a beautiful pop of color, making your spread truly unforgettable. Happy creating, and enjoy your delicious, grape-filled charcuterie!
