Nick Fury Jr. Revamped The Character's Reputation
Comic debut: Battle Scars (Vol 1) #1 , by Chris Yost, Cullen Bunn, Matt Fraction, Scot Eaton, Andrew Hennessy, Paul Mounts, and Joe Sabino
Nick Fury Jr.'s story isn't as simple as it is for other characters who just went from the big screen to the paper. This character was originally designed after Nick Fury's Ultimate Marvel version -- which happened to be tailored after Samuel L. Jackson. However, he didn't go from films to comics due to Jackson's likeness. Instead, this resulted from the original Ultimate Marvel version inspiration and the fact that Marvel Studios hired Jackson in the first place.
Regardless of how this happened, Nick Fury Jr. became a second chance at success for a good Nicholas Fury variant. Following his success in the MCU, Fury Jr. became the most important Fury inside and outside the comics -- for instance, in merchandise and collectibles. When he appeared in the comics, the original Nick Fury had been around for 50 years, but this version never made the impact his son managed to do.
