In today’s world… we need to have less competition and more collaboration.

My name is Ashley and I’m a small artist in NC. I make copper jewelry with natural elements such as crystals, fossils, shells, insects, bones, oddities, and more. What do you do? I’ll share to my story every artist who comments about their work below!
As someone who creates handmade copper jewelry, I've found that incorporating natural elements like crystals, fossils, and shells adds not only aesthetic beauty but also a deep personal connection to each piece. It’s fascinating how different elements, such as insects or bones, can tell stories through jewelry, making every item truly one-of-a-kind. Working with copper inspires me because of its rich color and how it can be treated to develop unique patinas over time. Including oddities and natural curiosities invites curiosity and starts conversations, which is one of the most rewarding parts of being an artist. Collaboration within the artist community has greatly enriched my creative process. Sharing techniques and inspiration with fellow artisans fosters growth and opens doors to fresh ideas, reducing competition and nurturing a supportive environment. I've learned that supporting others doesn’t diminish my success but instead enhances the collective creativity around us. For those interested in creating or collecting natural-element jewelry, I recommend experimenting with different textures and pairing unexpected materials. Whether you’re using rough fossils or polished crystals, each piece holds a story that resonates deeply with the wearer. If you are an artist too, sharing your process and experiences can connect you with a broader audience, helping others appreciate the beauty of handcrafted art rooted in nature. Feel free to share your story below—I look forward to seeing the diversity and passion of fellow artists!
