I am so happy to have found yet another series to become obsessed with. I would call it a mafia romance per se, it’s more gangs than true mafia. It is set in the UK which made for a fun change of scenery for me.

Genevieve is our female main character. She’s a fairly typical character in these types of books. She has had a rough life having to shoulder the responsibility of caring for her family after a tragedy, along with her brother. She values her independence and ability to provide what she can. She’s smart and funny. But when she meets our morally grey man her life becomes something she never expected.

Arran is kind and thoughtful and protects those around him who often cannot protect themselves. After a run-in with Genevieve, it seems fate has decided she is someone he should protect. But is it actually fate or does she have a twisted agenda?

I loved having some of Shade’s pov throughout the novel as well. He’s a great addition to the storytelling.

The pacing is amazing, never a dullness to the plot. Jolie Vines builds a beautiful world around our characters and gives them true depth through both emotions and their shared experiences. Everything is so perfectly woven together it feels as if this story exists within reality.
