This novel leans more into the politics of the mafia, which is an enjoyable aspect of the plot. A lot of times we just exist in the peripheral of the mafia world.

Scarlet is one of those female main characters I enjoy so much. Her insecurities are a lot different than most as well. However, those insecurities do nothing to minimize what an intelligent badass she is.

Antonio is our quintessential mafia boss. Good looks, stoic, calculating personality. One of the things I enjoy most is how opposite his personality is once Scarlet is part of his life. Of course he’s still all of those things to the men around him, but with her he’s gentle and reverent, building her up on all ways that matter.

This was a really fun novel to read. I loved their story and can’t wait to read more of the series. Bella Ray does a fantastic job of laying the foundation for what I can already tell will be an amazing series.
