Welcome to the world, baby boy.

Your beginning looks different than I imagined, but you are here, and you are so loved.
I know Luna & Sol sent you to us. And I know they are still guiding the way.

Having gone through the experience of welcoming a preemie, I can truly relate to the feelings shared in this story. The journey begins earlier than expected, filled with uncertainty and moments measured in tiny breaths and hours spent beside monitors. It's a time when every small milestone feels monumental and each moment in the NICU is a lesson in patience and resilience. From my own experience, the emotional rollercoaster includes fear and hope intertwined. Seeing your baby connected to wires and machines is daunting, but it also highlights how modern medicine supports these tiny fighters. The bond you develop as a NICU mom is deepened by constant vigilance and learning your baby’s rhythms ‘a moment at a time.’ Support communities like #NICUmom and #preemiejourney are invaluable. They provide shared understanding and encouragement from others who know the unique path of parenthood with a premature infant. The strength within this community, often tagged as #preemiestrong, helped me navigate both hard days and moments of triumph. Importantly, this journey teaches a new kind of strength, one I describe as ‘muscle memory’—the calm steadiness developed through experience that guides you through uncertainty. Spiritual or symbolic beliefs, such as the mention of Luna & Sol guiding and hand-picking the baby, can offer comfort and a sense of connection beyond the physical challenges. For those currently in this phase, remember that while the beginning might look different than imagined, the love for your child is boundless. Cherish the small victories, lean on your support network, and take it one day, or even one minute, at a time. The preemie journey is tough, but it’s also filled with moments of incredible courage and hope.
