For me, it truly felt like a significant farewell to a previous chapter of life. Much like how the phrase "La flaka se despide y se va" suggests a departure, I felt a version of my old self saying goodbye to embrace a new identity. It's a universal truth that when you become a parent, you move "para otros Orizontes" – towards completely new horizons, and everyone around you, in a way, also says goodbye to the person you were, as they welcome the new you. It's a beautiful, yet sometimes daunting, transformation. One of the biggest lessons I learned at the start of parenthood is that it's rarely a smooth, perfectly planned path. There are so many unexpected challenges and unforeseen moments that pop up. What might seem like an 'indirect accident' in your plans often turns into a pivotal learning experience. For instance, I completely underestimated the impact of sleep deprivation, or how a simple grocery trip could become a complex military operation! These weren't 'accidents' in the traditional sense, but certainly surprising turns that forced me to adapt and grow in ways I never imagined. You quickly learn to be flexible and resilient. In many ways, parenthood feels like becoming a 'sportsperson' in a new, demanding league. You need incredible endurance for those sleepless nights, the dedication to keep going even when you're exhausted, and the strategic thinking to juggle schedules, feedings, and your own well-being. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and you're constantly training to be better. There are moments of sheer triumph, like seeing your baby’s first smile or hearing their first word, which feel like winning gold. Then there are the moments that test your limits, where you just have to push through, like any athlete striving for their best performance. Embracing these new horizons means accepting that your priorities shift, your free time diminishes, and your heart expands in ways you never thought possible. It's about letting go of expectations and welcoming the unpredictable. The old routines, the spontaneous outings, even some friendships might naturally fade or change as you navigate this incredible new role. It's truly a process where "todos se despiden de ella" – that old way of life – to make space for the richness and depth that parenthood brings. It’s a journey of continuous learning, filled with love, laughter, and a profound sense of purpose that makes every goodbye to the past absolutely worth it.
