Since I've moved out on my own for the first time, the only thing I have really struggled with is keeping my place cleaned up and organized well. I struggle with depression and chronic pain/fatigue so it can be hard for me to find the energy or motivations.
I have my tricks, I use apps like Finch and Habitica to track my chores amongst other things, but I still have trouble cleaning.
What are some of your best cleaning tips? I would love some ideas and recommendations!

Cleaning can be quite challenging, especially when dealing with depression and chronic pain or fatigue. Many people find that breaking tasks into smaller, manageable steps helps reduce overwhelm and keeps motivation steady. One useful approach is to create a simple cleaning schedule that focuses on just one area or chore each day. This avoids the feeling of being overloaded and allows you to build a cleaning routine gradually. Utilizing task management apps like Finch and Habitica, as mentioned in the article, provides powerful tools to gamify chores and enhance motivation. Habitica, for instance, turns daily tasks into a role-playing game where completing chores earns you rewards and progress. This can make the cleaning process feel more engaging and less like a burden. Another helpful tip is to set timers for short cleaning bursts—such as 10 to 15 minutes—to maintain focus without draining energy. Playing uplifting music or podcasts during these sessions often makes the experience more enjoyable. In addition, prioritizing self-care is essential. Recognize your limits and adjust the cleaning expectations accordingly. If you have support from friends or family, don't hesitate to ask for occasional help. Decluttering first can also make cleaning easier, as fewer items mean less to maintain and organize. Finally, keep in mind that consistency beats perfection. Even small efforts every day contribute to a cleaner, more comfortable living space. Celebrate your achievements to boost your motivation and gradually develop habits that fit your lifestyle and needs.

I have depression episodes too Eventually, I just end up doing 3/4 loads of dishes in one day (I don’t have dish washer) Laundry? Yes I leave it in dryer from time to time but I try not to let it left soaked and not put in dryer. I live in tiny place with a laundry unit and as I wore clothes that need to be wash I just toss it in the washer. When it full I wash them! Lived on my own and only done two deep clean in 3.5 year( mop everywhere, toilet, shower, go through my food and bathroom products and toss anything that old, moldy, or have donation pile going, organized my pantry and clothes, clean cat litter box, wipe down counters, doors, base beams, etc) Maybe some music might help you ? Sometimes I play some of my favorite songs or genre while working. Or plug in earbuds in and play a favorite movie to listen to . A movie I seen so many times I don’t need to watch it to know what going on. I know by the. Lines and the music being played
