Entry 15 • Desert Therapy 🌵
~It’s been almost a month since I last sat down with these pages… and somehow it feels like I’ve lived a whole season inside of that time!!
So much has shifted since I last junk journaled.
Work has changed in ways I’m still processing.
Photography sessions.
And then… releasing my book!!
This month has been full. Beautiful. Stretching. A little overwhelming at times…but deeply meaningful.
If I’m being honest, I think that’s why I haven’t journaled. I’ve been living so fully that I haven’t slowed down enough to process it all.
But here I am now.
Catching up.
Breathing it in.
And maybe that’s the lesson in all of this…
that life doesn’t always happen in neat, daily entries.
Sometimes it pours out all at once, wild and expansive like red rocks & a Grand Canyon . 🥹🫶
We come back later to make sense of the beauty.
Here’s to red rock therapy, to growth, to creativity, and to not missing the life I’m living while I’m busy trying to junk journal it.

Spending time in the desert offers a unique form of therapy that goes beyond traditional healing methods. From personal experience, the vastness and raw beauty of places like Sedona’s red rocks and the Grand Canyon create a sense of peace that is hard to find elsewhere. The desert’s simplicity combined with its dramatic landscapes allows you to slow down and reconnect with yourself in ways that everyday life often interrupts. In my own journey, I’ve found desert therapy to be a catalyst for embracing change and processing life’s complexities. Like the phrase I came across — "with time and water, there is beauty in simplicity" — it reminds me that growth takes time, and healing is a gradual process. Sometimes we’re so busy living life at a fast pace that we forget to pause and acknowledge the smaller, beautiful moments that contribute to our overall well-being. Junk journaling in this context becomes more than just a creative outlet; it’s a way to hold space for emotions and experiences that don’t always fit into neat daily entries. As the author reflects, life can pour out wildly and expansively—much like the canyon’s vastness—making it impossible to capture in small, orderly segments. This realization has helped me accept the ebb and flow of life’s rhythms and inspired me to appreciate the journey rather than rush to document it. Additionally, spending time in the desert amplifies a sense of renewal and new beginnings. The natural elements like water, despite being scarce, highlight resilience and adaptation—qualities that serve as valuable lessons when navigating personal shifts, career changes, or creative endeavors such as photography and writing. For anyone feeling overwhelmed or seeking healing, I highly recommend exploring desert therapy through mindful immersion in nature or creative practices like junk journaling. It’s an enriching way to breathe in the present moment, extract meaning from change, and honor the ongoing process of growth without losing sight of the life unfolding all around you.
