From the moment I arrived, Boonton Main Street was buzzing. The street was lined with white tents, suggesting a lively event, and indeed it was! Local businesses extended their hours, artists displayed their work, and there was a wonderful sense of camaraderie. I started my adventure by just soaking in the historic architecture. Did you know Boonton has such incredible buildings? The iconic Boonton Opera House, a beautiful white structure, stands proudly, and I even spotted the restored Maxfield Engine House, a red brick beauty that often hosts art exhibits – like the 'Highlands Juried Art Exhibit' banner I saw. It's amazing to see how these historical gems are preserved and utilized. Wandering further, I found myself drawn to the unique storefronts. One that really caught my eye was 'STOKEDVILLE,' with its window display featuring mannequins in fun costumes – it looked like they were getting ready for Halloween! These independent shops are what give downtown Boonton its character. There's a real sense of local pride here, and it's so much fun to browse through items you won't find in typical malls.
