「子連れで海に近い宿がいい！」と思って奄美大島を調べ始めると、ホテルの種類が多くて迷いました。私が探すときに重視したのは、①ビーチまでの距離（徒歩・部屋から直結だと最高）②子ども向け備品（おむつ、ベビーベッド／プレイヤード、キッズメニュー）③海遊び後の動線（温泉・大浴場、足湯、洗い場、乾かす場所）④アクティビティ（シュノーケリング、マングローブカヌー、星空観察、ウミガメツアー）です。 海水浴場に近い宿を選ぶコツは「徒歩○分」よりも“海に出るまでのストレス”を見ること。例えば、1階客室からそのままビーチに出られるタイプだと、砂遊び→部屋で着替え→また海、が何回でもできて本当に楽でした。逆に、駐車場を挟む・坂道が多い・館内の移動が長いと、子どもが疲れやすいので注意ポイント。チェックイン前後にシャワーや更衣室を使えるかも、予約前に確認すると安心です。 奄美大島の子連れ旅は、海だけじゃなく「星空観察会」「マングローブカヌー」「アマミノクロウサギ観察ツアー」みたいに自然系が強いのが魅力。年齢の目安としては、未就学児はビーチ散歩・貝殻拾い・浅瀬遊びが中心でも大満足。シュノーケリングは“何歳から参加OKか”が宿やツアーで違うので、3歳以上／4歳以上など条件を必ずチェックしました。ウミガメシュノーケリングは憧れるけど、怖がる子もいるので、まずはライフジャケットの貸出がある宿だとトライしやすいです。 また、鹿児島エリアで検索すると「オールインクルーシブ 子連れ」も気になるところ。奄美大島はホテルによって食事スタイルがさまざまなので、子どもが小さい時期は“移動が少ない”のが正解でした。夕食は郷土料理ビュッフェやレストラン付き、朝は軽めにして昼に島グルメ…など、無理のない組み方がおすすめです。 最後に、持っていって助かったものは①マリンシューズ②ラッシュガード③防水スマホケース④洗濯ネット（濡れ物まとめ用）⑤砂落とし用の小さめブラシ。ビーチ近くのホテルを選ぶほど濡れ物が増えるので、館内コインランドリーや干せる場所の有無も、子連れにはかなり重要でした。
