Getting my nexplanon inserted it didn’t hurt at all the only thing you could feel was the numbing shot the procedure was very quick and painless. The numbing shot feels like a normal shot you get at the doctors office so there is not much to worry about.
Days 1 and 2 were not hard recovery at all it was just a bit sore when the numbing wore off
Day 3 I haven’t had much bruising the spot is sore when pressure is applied I haven’t really noticed any symptoms yet besides maybe acne. And my mood has been better and happier #nexplanon#birthcontrol#recovery#unfiltered#Lemon8Diary

... Read moreOkay, so in my original post, I talked about the immediate Nexplanon insertion and the first few days. Now, I want to dive a bit deeper into what you can expect for the full healing process, especially since many of you are searching about bruising and recovery!
First, let's chat about that initial soreness. While the insertion itself was practically painless for me thanks to the numbing shot, I definitely felt a dull ache once the numbing wore off. This is totally normal! For me, it lasted about 3-4 days, mostly when I accidentally bumped my arm or put pressure on it. It wasn't unbearable, more like a persistent reminder that something new was there.
The big question for many is often about bruising, and I totally get it – nobody wants a huge purple mark on their arm! From my experience, and what I've heard from others, some bruising is pretty common after Nexplanon insertion. It happens because tiny blood vessels can get damaged during the procedure, especially when the numbing agent is injected or the implant is placed. My arm had just a small red mark and a clear bandage initially, as you saw in my recovery photo. Over the next few days, I noticed a very faint yellowish bruise, but it never turned deep purple. To help minimize bruising, I iced the area for short periods right after insertion, and I tried to keep my arm elevated as much as possible for the first 24 hours. Wearing a slightly snug but not tight bandage also seemed to help with the initial compression.
When it comes to the nexplanon implant under skin, it's normal to feel it! It feels like a small, flexible rod just beneath the surface. You should be able to gently feel both ends. If you ever can't feel it, or if it feels like it's moved significantly, definitely contact your doctor. It's designed to stay in place, but it's good to be aware of its location.
As for the nexplanon healing process and potential nexplanon scar, the insertion site usually heals up pretty quickly. After about a week, the bandage comes off, and you're left with just a tiny puncture wound. This will eventually fade into a very small, often barely noticeable healed nexplanon scar. Mine is still quite new, but it's already just a tiny dot, almost like a freckle. Everyone's skin heals differently, of course, but it's usually very discreet.
Many also ask about nexplanon removal bruising. While I haven't had mine removed yet, friends who have told me the removal process is similar to insertion – a numbing shot, a small incision, and then the implant is gently taken out. Just like insertion, some bruising and soreness are common afterwards, and recovery usually involves a similar short period of tenderness. It's good to know what to expect for both ends of the journey!
Overall, my experience with the Nexplanon healing process has been smooth. The initial discomfort and minimal bruising were certainly manageable, and knowing what to expect really helped calm any anxieties. Remember, everyone's body reacts a bit differently, so always listen to your body and consult your healthcare provider if you have any concerns during your own recovery!
