What am I actually raising my daughter for?
Not the grades. Not the trophies. Not how she compares to someone else’s child or someone else’s family.
When I get to heaven, God is not going to ask me about her GPA. He’s going to ask about her heart. Did she know Him? Did she love others? Did she share Him with the world around her?
That is my testimony as her mom. Not the accomplishments. The eternal things.
I chose her without a biological tie. Without a legal obligation. I chose her at three years old and I choose her every single day. And the most important thing I will ever do for her is point her to Jesus.
For every mom raising kids for eternity, not applause. 💛

As a parent or guardian, it’s easy to get caught up in the relentless pursuit of achievements—grades, awards, or societal approval. However, this story reminds us that the greatest gift we can offer our children is a foundation of faith and love that lasts beyond earthly accomplishments. Personally, I have found profound peace and purpose when I shifted my focus from outward success to internal growth. Raising children with a spiritual perspective means teaching them to know Jesus, love others deeply, and share kindness as a way of life. It’s not about perfection but about authenticity in living out faith daily. The role of a "bonus mom" or adoptive parent adds layers of intentional love and dedication. Choosing a child intentionally, and continuously choosing to guide her toward God’s heart, is a beautiful act of grace. There are challenges, like surgeries or difficult moments in the journey, but faith provides strength and hope. In my experience, sharing this spiritual legacy with children enriches their understanding of identity and purpose. It encourages them to value character over accolades and relationships over responsibilities. This approach also helps parents navigate the fear and pressure of parenting by reminding them that their efforts matter eternally, not just temporarily. If you’re a mom or dad trying to raise kids for eternity rather than applause, remember that your daily acts of faithfulness—praying, teaching, loving unconditionally—are the seeds of a lasting spiritual impact. These moments shape hearts more than any trophy ever could. Embracing this mindset transforms parenting into a mission of eternal significance that will be remembered long after earthly milestones fade.
This hit me hard this week. In the middle of grief I still get to be her mom. And that is not a small thing. 💛 What are you raising your kids FOR?
