If you have slick floors, adding rugs – especially soft leaf-patterned rugs – provides traction and comfort for their delicate hocks. These also define their space beautifully. Within this area, every bunny needs a secure, comfortable place to retreat. This could be a large hutch, a cozy bed, or even a series of cardboard playhouses and tunnels for them to explore. I love seeing my bunnies pop out of their little wooden structures! Enrichment is key. Think about vertical space. Ramps leading to platforms or even sturdy wooden beds create different levels for them to climb and survey their kingdom. I've seen some amazing setups with shelves and hanging plants (always do your research to ensure they're non-toxic!) that add a touch of nature and beauty. Don't forget easily accessible water dispensers and multiple litter boxes. I find placing a litter box in a couple of their favorite hang-out spots really helps with litter training. For apartment dwellers or those with limited space, a rabbit free roam apartment setup is totally achievable. You might not have an entire dedicated bunny room, but you can still create a fantastic indoor bunny enclosure within your living room. Utilize vertical space with multi-tiered wooden structures or shelves. A chic, low bamboo fence can define their area without making it feel cramped, and adding some soft string lights can make their corner feel extra magical and cozy. The best part about designing these spaces is seeing your rabbit thrive. Every bunny is different, so observe their preferences. Do they love to chew? Provide more wooden structures. Are they burrowers? Give them soft blankets and enclosed cardboard playhouses.
