Mid Year Check in

To be honest, this year has been HARD and even my ability to read has been impacted.

I started the year with a goal to read 95 books, that’s what I’ve read for the past few years. TBH I realized a few weeks ago that I probably won’t hit that goal so I adjusted my goal to 75 books. 75 is still a lot! Most American adults read 4 books a year on average.

I’m going to give myself grace in this season and enjoy my summer break. ✌🏻

... Read moreMid-year check-ins are a great opportunity to assess your reading goals and achieve a balance that suits your life. Many people set ambitious intentions at the beginning of the year, sometimes leading to undue stress when they realize they may not meet them. If you're like the author and started the year aiming to read 95 books, you may find yourself falling short, especially during busy periods. It's important to remember that reading should bring joy and not become a task that adds to your stress levels. Adjusting your goal from 95 to 75 books is a practical step that allows for a more enjoyable reading experience without the pressure of a stringent target. On average, American adults read about four books a year. While this statistic may seem low, it provides a useful context for how to measure your own reading accomplishments. By recalibrating your expectations, you give yourself room to embrace the joy of reading without feeling overwhelmed. Additionally, summer is a wonderful time to immerse yourself in books that perhaps you've wanted to tackle but didn’t find time for earlier in the year. Consider creating a list of books you are excited about, selecting a mix of genres to keep your reading experience varied and engaging. Many readers find success by setting aside dedicated reading time, whether it’s during travel, breaks, or at bedtime. Lastly, don't forget to share your reading journey! Engaging with communities on platforms like Lemon8 can optimize your reading experience as you connect with others who share similar goals. Use hashtags like #BookTok and #TBR to discover new reading recommendations and participate in discussions. By sharing your experiences and tips, you not only enrich your own journey but also inspire fellow readers to embrace their personal reading adventures.
