Thinking back to my trip to South Korea, specifically Seoul, brings a huge smile to my face. It was everything I dreamed of and more! If you're planning your own South Korea experience, here’s a glimpse into what made my journey so memorable and some tips I picked up along the way. Exploring Seoul was a whirlwind of sensory delights. I spent days wandering through iconic districts like Myeongdong, which was perfect for grabbing delicious street food and diving into the world of K-cosmetics. Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) was an architectural marvel, and the surrounding markets offered endless shopping opportunities, especially for fashion. For a taste of traditional Korean culture, a visit to Gyeongbokgung Palace was a must. Renting a Hanbok (traditional Korean dress) and strolling through the palace grounds really transported me back in time, making for some truly beautiful photos and an authentic experience. And of course, I couldn't go to Korea without fully immersing myself in K-beauty! The skincare and makeup scene there is just unparalleled, constantly innovating and setting global trends. One brand that really stood out, and I picked up a few products from, was TIRTIR. Their cushion foundations are genuinely game-changers – the coverage is flawless yet natural, and they last all day, even in humid weather. They often have amazing sales and sample kits, making it super easy to try new things without breaking the bank. It was a joy discovering new serums, masks, and of course, more cushion foundation options. Beyond the beauty products, Korean food is another highlight that made my South Korea experience so special. From sizzling Korean BBQ to comforting bowls of Bibimbap and spicy Tteokbokki from street vendors, every meal was an adventure. Don't be afraid to try everything – even the dishes you can't pronounce! The café culture in Seoul is also vibrant, with unique themes and delicious treats around every corner, perfect for a relaxing break. Getting around Seoul is surprisingly easy thanks to their incredibly efficient subway system. I highly recommend getting a T-Money card right away – you can use it for subways, buses, and even some taxis and convenience stores. While Google Maps is generally my go-to, I found that Naver Maps or Kakao Maps were much more accurate for walking directions within South Korea. Learning a few basic Korean phrases like 'Annyeonghaseyo' (hello) and 'Gamsahamnida' (thank you) also goes a long way in connecting with locals. Overall, my South Korea experience was enriching, delicious, and absolutely beautiful. From the bustling city life of Seoul to the rich cultural heritage and cutting-edge beauty trends, it's a destination that truly has something for everyone.
