📄 Plot: Apollo is a straight man who takes a job at a brothel on a secluded island. His job is to be a teaser for the birds (workers). Teasers get the birds riled up so they can take on their clients. Apollo's trainer is Phi who is the most sought-after bird in the brothel. Rules are simple : tease but don't finish and definitely DO NOT fall in love.

💭 My Thoughts: Apollo experiences what it is like to catch your wife sleeping with another man-which leads him to this new job at the brother. He can get fast cash and lots of it. Reason why he needs money is to pay for the lawyer fees after being charged with battery against the man who slept with his wife.
Phi becomes very interested with Apollo not only because he is straight but he is not showing any physical attraction to him. Which is a rarity being the most sought-after "bird" in the brothel. Apollo also starts to get attached to Phi especially during an incident with Phi and a customer goes sour. Apollo ends up taking Phi back to his room and even though Phi tells Apollo to leave, Apollo stands outside the door unawares to Phi. Apollo hears a Phi call for him and the voice sounds fragile.
Apollo immediately regrets leaving him that night but the next day he spends the day with Phi shopping, drinking, hanging around with friends. It's there that Phi comes to find out that Apollo isn't just some stoic man but a man who has lost everything that he thought his heart longed for when he witnessed his wife cheating on him. Apollo has a desire have a partner, not in the sense he needs to be loved but in the sense that Apollo has a need to give love.
This was a great introductory volume that really gets you a bit of everything on our main characters. Phi obviously comes from a rough childhood and background leaving him jaded and the fact that Apollo isn't showing immediate physical attraction to him leaves him intrigued even more about Apollo. I look forward to see more about his past on how Apollo will help him overcome it. While Apollo probably will have to wrestle with the fact if he wants to keep both him and Phi working at Shangri-La…how can he avoid falling in love but also I need to see them fall in love!
