Next stop, Desaru Mini Zoo 🦓 – kids had so much fun feeding the animals, while the adults went for the thrilling ATV ride. Nothing beats the wind rushing against your face!
And of course, we wrapped up the day with a seafood feast at Desaru Seafood Corner. The crab 🦀 was so fresh and sweet – absolutely a must-try!

If you’re planning a trip to Desaru, I highly recommend including the Desaru Mini Zoo in your itinerary—it’s a hit with kids who love feeding the animals up close. The zoo charges a small entrance fee (around RM20) plus a fee for animal feed, which my kids enjoyed immensely. For thrill-seekers, the ATV rides offer an exciting way to explore the scenic outdoors of Desaru. I found the experience refreshing with cool breeze as you ride through varied terrain; it’s suitable for adults and older kids with a sense of adventure. After a full day of activities, head to Desaru Seafood Corner for a mouthwatering seafood dinner. The crab was especially fresh and sweet, which really capped off our day nicely. Getting there is also very manageable—Hong Gim Coffee is a great place to fuel up before the 30-minute drive to Desaru Mini Zoo. Overall, Desaru offers a balanced mix of relaxation and excitement, suitable for families looking for a fulfilling getaway. Don’t forget to bring some cash for entrance and feed fees, sunscreen, and a camera to capture these wonderful moments!
