Only Child, Lonely Forever?

I’m an only child and I have often wondered if I will ever shake this feeling of loneliness.

I have the ideal life, I’m the anomaly “The Traumatized Girl Who Made it To Normal”

“The girl everyone expected to be as crazy as her mother, but didn’t “

But I don’t FEEL like any of those things. I feel like I’ve been playing pretend all my life and at 28 I’m so tired of saying I’m okay when I’m the furthest thing from it.

Why do I do that anyway? Because I’m worried about how I’ll make others feel?

Well do they care about how they made me feel? How their actions affected me?

Nope, not the majority of them at least.

It’s so frustrating being alone in this world, figuring it all out for yourself because your parents are too busy with their lives to be parents.

So tv raises you,

the school they send you to indoctrinates you

and you grow up and your parents don’t even recognize you, and why?

Oh because they didn’t impart any part of themselves onto you bc they were too busy with other things.

So, grows this disconnect that widens with time until the child feels as though they are an orphan.

A cast out alone in this world seeking connection from anyone who will give it.

So many fall down the negative path seeking that connection, seeking to fill the void that the loneliness creates.

I’m trying to not fall down the negative path but the loneliness grows each passing day…

What’s an only child to do tho…there’s so few out there who understand.

Are you perhaps one?
