I know the feeling of running out of ideas, especially when you want to create something truly memorable and funny without too much hassle. That's why I've become a pro at using simple household items to create big laughs, and toilet paper is definitely one of my secret weapons! It’s readily available, inexpensive, and incredibly versatile for creating all sorts of mischievous scenes.
One of my absolute favorite go-to setups involves creating a whimsical scene with a 'reindeer made from stacked toilet paper rolls'. It's surprisingly easy to do and looks adorable! You just need a few rolls of toilet paper, some pipe cleaners for antlers, and maybe a marker to draw on some eyes. My elf, 'Elfie' (yes, like in the OCR, he's quite the character!), loves riding his toilet paper reindeer through the living room. Last year, I even added a tiny sleigh made from a tissue box, and he was delivering 'mini presents' (chocolate coins) to my kids, leaving a trail of glitter behind him. The kids absolutely adored finding him in this position, and it sparked so much imagination about what adventures Elfie had been on overnight!
Another super simple yet hilarious idea is the 'toilet paper snowman'. While my elves don't always build a full snowman, they often get caught in funny situations involving toilet paper that hint at snow and winter fun. For example, one morning, I found them tangled in a 'toilet paper roll dispenser' with a funny joke written on the unrolled paper – something like, 'Why didn't the toilet paper cross the road? It got stuck in the crack! Ha Ha Ha!' (Just like the one in the OCR!). It's these unexpected, silly moments that really make the mornings fun and give the kids a good laugh before school. You can also have your elf make 'snow angels' on the floor using a roll of toilet paper, or even wrap a small toy in it to look like a tiny snowman.
Don't forget the classic 'fishing' setup! My elf once used a candy cane as a fishing rod, 'fishing' for Goldfish crackers in the sink. The sign next to him, 'Just doing a little fishing! -ELFIE', made everyone giggle. You could easily adapt this with a 'toilet paper snowman' in a 'snowball fight' using cotton balls, or even have your elf building a tiny fort out of toilet paper rolls. I've also had my elves toilet-papering the Christmas tree, creating a funny, harmless mess that the kids find utterly delightful. Imagine finding your little elf swinging from a branch, surrounded by streamers of toilet paper!
Getting creative with everyday items like toilet paper not only saves you time and money but also adds a unique, personalized touch to your Elf's adventures. These simple yet effective setups bring so much joy and anticipation each morning. Whether it's a 'reindeer toilet paper elf on the shelf' display, a 'toilet paper snowman' scene, or just a silly message on a roll, these ideas are sure to bring smiles and keep the Christmas spirit alive. So next time you're scrambling for ideas, look no further than your bathroom cabinet – you might just find your next viral Elf on the Shelf moment!
