Why I’m thinking of not using instagram?

I’ve been using instagram since it first came out (that makes me feel old). It was fun and exciting. It was all about photography or was supposed to.

Now it just feels like how many followers to get, look how my “exciting and interesting” life, and trying to get likes. Which is why I got bored with it. I know my life isn’t interesting, I just want to show off my pictures that I like or quotes I liked. Or maybe I’m just getting old 🤷🏽‍♀️ or maybe I’m just boring now. Who knows

I used it to stay connected with people I don’t get to see anymore.

Also I have my family and friends on. Lemon 8 is the only thing I have with no family and friends, which is actually nice to not have anyone on. My own private life

Originally designed to celebrate photography and creativity, Instagram has increasingly turned into a contest for followers and likes. This shift can lead to feelings of boredom and dissatisfaction, as users navigate the pressure to present an 'exciting' life online. For those seeking a breath of fresh air, alternative platforms like Lemon8 provide a sanctuary for individuals who wish to share their true selves without the burden of social comparison. By focusing on personal expression and interests rather than follower counts, Lemon8 fosters a genuine community spirit. Users can share photographs, quotes, and personal reflections that resonate with them, rather than seeking validation from a broader audience. Moreover, the anonymity and privacy offered by platforms like Lemon8 can be refreshing in an era where personal lives are often on public display. The ability to connect with community members around mutual interests — such as parenting, beauty, or travel — allows for deeper, more meaningful interactions. With hashtags like #whyiquitinstagram and #Lemon8Diary trending, it's clear that many are rethinking their social media strategies. Ultimately, users are encouraged to reflect on their social media habits and consider whether they are genuinely enjoying the experience or simply participating out of obligation. The intent should always align with personal happiness and authenticity, making platforms that prioritize meaningful connections increasingly valuable.
