We had crazy craving for naengmyeon this 102F day. Naengmyeon hit the spot (probably the best in north Jersey) and dumplings were good too. They make their own noodles here. This place is somewhat of a hidden gem because it’s a little bit out of the way. We went just before closing time and the owner lady was closing by herself. She seemed tired but kind and didn’t kick us out even though we were the very last ones. Listening to her, I could tell she had a lot of love and pride for her food. BTW, it’s a complete self service restaurant so there is no tip but you get your food and return empty bowls to the counter. The ice cream shop is two doors down so good for dessert.

Visiting Choi Ga Naengmyeon was a delightful experience, especially on a scorching 102°F day when we craved something refreshing and flavorful. The naengmyeon here truly stands out among North Jersey offerings because the noodles are made in-house, lending an authentic texture and freshness that you don't often find in many Korean restaurants. The cold, chewy noodles paired perfectly with the cold broth, providing a much-needed cool relief in that intense heat. Aside from the naengmyeon, the dumplings also impressed with their savory filling and satisfying bite. This balance of comfort and quality makes Choi Ga a perfect spot for anyone seeking genuine Korean cuisine away from the typical hustle and bustle. One of the unique features of this restaurant is its self-service system. This setup means there’s no tipping, which can be a nice change for those who prefer a straightforward dining experience. You order, pick up your meals yourself, and clean up by returning your bowls—helping maintain a relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere. The owner, who was wrapping up the day alone, clearly takes immense pride in her food, which comes through in every dish. Although she seemed tired, her kindness was evident as she allowed us to dine even though we arrived close to closing time, creating a warm, inviting environment. Located at 221 Closter Dock Rd, Closter, NJ, Choi Ga Naengmyeon is a gem tucked away just enough to feel like a local secret. If you visit, don’t miss the ice cream shop two doors down — a perfect way to end your meal with a sweet treat. Whether you’re a fan of Korean food, looking for mukbang content inspiration, or just in search of a great restaurant review, this place offers a rewarding experience worth sharing and revisiting.
