When I first started with Goodnotes on my iPad, I felt a bit overwhelmed by all the tools crowding my toolbar. It felt like there were so many options, and honestly, many of them I rarely used. That's when I realized the power of Goodnotes toolbar customization! It completely transformed my digital planning and note-taking experience, making my iPad feel even more intuitive and personal. If you're like me and want to streamline your workflow, getting started with toolbar customization is incredibly straightforward. You just need to tap on the 3 dots on the top right corner of your Goodnotes interface. This brings up a menu, and from there, you'll find the option for "Toolbar Customization." This is your gateway to a more organized digital workspace. My biggest tip, and something the original article briefly touches upon, is to remove any tools you don't need. Think about it: why have a highlighter or shape tool occupying prime real estate if you rarely use them? For me, decluttering meant letting go of tools like the laser pointer or certain shape options that weren't essential for my daily planning. This instantly made the toolbar feel less cluttered and easier to navigate. It's all about making your workspace efficient – if you only use the pen, eraser, and lasso tool, then those should be the stars of your toolbar! But what if you do need a tool occasionally? That's where the "hidden tools" feature comes in handy. Goodnotes allows you to toggle on quick access to these less-frequently-used tools without them permanently cluttering your main toolbar. It’s a genius way to keep your primary workspace clean while still having everything you need just a tap away. I often keep my Tape and Elements tools in this 'hidden' section, easily accessible when I'm adding stickers or images to my digital planner. Consider your main use for Goodnotes. Are you a student primarily taking notes? You might want to prioritize different pen types, the highlighter, and the lasso tool for quick selection and rearrangement. Are you an artist sketching ideas? Then the pen, eraser, and perhaps the image tool would be key. For digital planners, having the pen, eraser, lasso, and maybe a text tool readily available makes a huge difference. By taking a few minutes to customize your Goodnotes toolbar, you'll find your iPad digital planning and note-taking experience becomes much more focused and enjoyable. It's a small change that yields big results in terms of productivity and a cleaner, more personalized interface!
