Starting my photography journey 📸

I got my camera back in February! Not the newest camera at all in today’s craziest new lineup of the hottest cameras but this makes do! I have 2 lenses, a 50 mm portrait and the wide angle kit lens that came with the camera. Will definitely invest in more lenses in the future but for now, these are great to practice with. I mainly shoot myself in creative composite shoots along with special occasion shoots for friends and family.

This has been a fun journey to explore in 2024 and I can’t wait to go further with it ✨📸

... Read moreHey everyone! Since starting my journey with the Canon EOS Rebel T6, I've learned so much about making the most of this fantastic beginner-friendly camera. One of the first things I dove into was understanding its lens mount, which is super important for expanding your gear! Understanding Your Canon EOS Rebel T6 Lens Mount My Canon EOS Rebel T6 uses the Canon EF/EF-S mount. This is great news because it means there's a huge variety of lenses out there compatible with our camera! The 'EF-S' lenses are specifically designed for APS-C crop sensor cameras like the Rebel T6, offering a wider angle perspective than an EF lens might on this body. My EF-S 18-55mm kit lens, for example, is an EF-S lens. 'EF' lenses, on the other hand, are full-frame lenses, but they can still be used on your Rebel T6! They might just have a different effective focal length due to the crop factor. Knowing this helped me realize the potential for future lens investments, allowing me to explore everything from stunning landscapes to detailed macro shots. It’s all about finding the right glass for your creative vision. Maximizing Your Canon Rebel T6 Photography Getting to grips with the Rebel T6 for photography has been an adventure. I've been experimenting with different modes beyond just auto! For those gorgeous portraits, try 'Aperture Priority' (Av mode) – it lets you control the background blur beautifully, especially with a 50mm prime lens like mine. For action shots or capturing fast-moving subjects, 'Shutter Priority' (Tv mode) is your best friend. Remember what Ansel Adams said, "You don't take a photograph, you make it." This really resonates with me as I try to make my shots unique. Don't be afraid to adjust your ISO, aperture, and shutter speed. Even small changes can make a huge difference in the final image. I’ve found practicing regularly, even just around the house or in my backyard, has been key to improving. Tips for Beginners and Creative Shots When I first got my T6, I was a bit overwhelmed, but I promise it gets easier! My biggest tip for beginner photographers is to not get caught up in having the latest gear. My pre-owned Canon Rebel T6 is doing just fine! Focus on composition, lighting, and understanding your camera's basic functions. Play around with angles and perspectives. I love doing creative composite shoots, and my T6 handles them wonderfully. Also, don't forget about post-processing! A little editing can really make your photos pop. As for inspiration, I often look for photography quotes that motivate me. One of my favorites is by Henri Cartier-Bresson: "Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst." It reminds me that every shot is a learning opportunity. Keep experimenting, keep learning, and most importantly, keep having fun with your Canon Rebel T6!
