Another New Friend!
🌿 Say hello to my new little forest punk: Velvet ✨
She may look like a tiny goth cotton ball crossed with a pineapple, but she’s actually a Banded Tussock Caterpillar (💛🐛). Harmless, adorable, and just vibing in her fuzzy little boots.
I found her today on my car door of all places, and obviously had to give her a dramatic name and a temporary modeling contract. She’s currently in her softcore glam-rock era, but soon she’ll emerge as a pale-winged moth — delicate, dreamy, and ready to haunt porch lights.
I’m raising her through her metamorphosis. Yep — giving her a safe space, documenting her changes, photographing each stage, and then releasing her once she emerges as a moth.

Because transformation is magic!! Watching a tiny caterpillar go through this journey is a powerful reminder of growth, patience, and the quiet beauty of nature.
It’s part photography, part citizen science, part rearing for observation, part healing hobby.
