Drugstore vs Luxury Skincare 🧴

Drugstore vs. luxury skincare… I genuinely can’t decide 😩🧖🏼‍♀️ and I need HELP from you guys!!

On one hand, I love a good splurge moment, like my DRMTLGY tinted SPF and the Beauty of Joseon eye serum… there’s just something about the texture, the finish, and the whole “luxury skincare routine” feeling that makes it so satisfying. But then I have products like this peptide ampoule that give me the same glow, hydration, and skin barrier support for WAY less??

So now I’m stuck and I need your honest opinions 👀

Do you think luxury skincare is actually worth it long-term, or are we mostly paying for the packaging + experience?

Have you ever switched from high-end to drugstore and actually seen no difference?

Or did luxury products genuinely change your skin for the better?

And be real with me… if you HAD to choose, are you team drugstore, team luxury, or a mix of both?!

Help me build my routine because I’m clearly not trusted to make this decision alone 😭

... Read moreHaving experimented with both drugstore and luxury skincare products over the years, I’ve found that the best choice really depends on your skin type, concerns, and budget. For example, products like the DRMTLGY tinted universal moisturizer with SPF 46 have impressed me with their lightweight texture and effective sun protection, which is crucial for maintaining healthy skin and preventing premature aging. On the other hand, the Beauty of Joseon eye serum delivers a soothing sensation and noticeable hydration that feels quite luxurious, adding a pampering touch to my daily routine. Interestingly, I also tried peptide ampoules from bioscience brands, which are rich in hydrolyzed collagen and adenosine—ingredients known for strengthening the skin barrier and boosting skin elasticity. These ampoules, often found at drugstore prices, provided comparable benefits to high-end serums, making me question the true value of luxury packaging and marketing. From my experience, switching between high-end and affordable products didn't drastically affect my skin when the ingredients targeted my specific concerns. However, the sensory experience—such as texture, scent, and overall ritual—tended to feel more satisfying with luxury brands, which might explain why people are willing to invest in them. That said, consistent skincare, regardless of price, is what ultimately brings results. If you’re just starting out or on a budget, consider focusing on effective ingredients rather than brand names. Look for products that support hydration, sun protection, and skin barrier health—like peptide ampoules, tinted moisturizers with broad-spectrum SPF, and gentle eye serums. Also, watch out for formulations that don’t pill or cause irritation, especially if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin. In conclusion, I'd say both drugstore and luxury skincare can be effective; it depends on your individual needs. A mix of both might offer the perfect balance—luxury for those pampering moments and dependable drugstore items for daily maintenance. Feel free to experiment and find what truly works best for your skin and lifestyle.
