Stepping into the world of Five Nights at Freddy's for a cosplay is always an adventure, and my Mangle costume definitely stands out as one of my most rewarding projects! I used EVA foam for the base of the main head and the smaller secondary head, shaping them with a heat gun. The key was to create that distinct snout and the large, expressive eyes that are so characteristic of the animatronic. Don't forget the sharp teeth! I crafted these from Worbla, as it's great for intricate details and holds its shape well. The body is where Mangle's 'mangle' really comes to life. Instead of a solid suit, I opted for a combination of actual fabric pieces and exposed 'endoskeleton' sections. For the endoskeleton, PVC pipes and wires (safely blunted and secured!) were my best friends. I painted them with metallic and rust-effect paints to give them that weathered, abandoned look. Finding the right shade of pink and white fabric, and then carefully distressing it, was another challenge. I ripped, frayed, and strategically dirtied the fabric to mimic years of wear and tear within Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. One of the trickiest parts was the extra limbs and wires. Mangle is known for her multiple arms and legs, often appearing to drag herself around. I created lightweight arm extensions that I could manipulate, giving the illusion of more limbs. Running wires through the costume, especially around the joints, added to the broken animatronic effect. Just make sure they don't snag or cause discomfort when you're moving around! For the hands, I used foam gloves as a base and added sharp, claw-like fingers, again focusing on that disjointed, mechanical look. Painting all the components consistently was key – ensuring the metallic sheen on the endoskeleton parts matched, and the fabric distress looked natural across the whole costume. My biggest advice for anyone wanting to make a Mangle mask or a full Mangle FNaF costume is to embrace the imperfection. Mangle isn't supposed to be pristine. Every tear, every exposed wire, every mismatched piece tells a story. It’s about conveying that creepy, broken charm that makes her such a fan-favorite character. It took a lot of patience, a good hot glue gun, and plenty of reference photos, but seeing it all come together was incredibly satisfying.
