Shanghai, China
Rating⭐⭐⭐⭐
🚝3 mins to Line 14/18 metro station (Changyi Road)
✈️35 mins to Shanghai Pudong International Airport (Metro + Maglev)
🏪Aldi supermarket & Family Mart convenience store at the metro station
🛌 Premier King Room (~$130-150/night)
👍🏻Check in from 12pm & was granted a 1 hour late checkout (please ask nicely)
👍🏻Spacious Room (for your luggages and bags!)
👍🏻Multiple lift lobbies in the property
👍🏻Separate Toilet (with bidet and heater seat) & Shower
👍🏻Complimentary toiletries, 2 canned drinks and 2 mineral water
👍🏻In-house gym and laundry room!
😅No dedicated driveway, nearest is the small carpark entrance beside the TCM clinic next door
😅Not fully sheltered from metro exit but it is just a 3 mins walk
😅No hook in the bathroom and toilet
😅Clothes hanger area is quite limited
😅Different room configurations (e.g., I had a 5th floor room with a sofa but a huge ledge outside the window that restricted the view & another on the 3rd floor without the sofa but no restricted view.) Not a priority either way since the hotel is only 5 storeys high.
Shoutout to @🌼DiariesV for this recommendation❤️
I was fretting over the accommodations until @🌼DiariesV told me about this place. Searched it up and realised it was so convenient! I mean 3 mins from metro and 35 mins from airport, I spent less than $10/pax on the public transport from the airport.
Rated it 4/5 ⭐️ because of the lack of dedicated driveway and not fully sheltered from metro but for the most part, the amenities and comfort made up for it. I was also granted a one hour late checkout which was really helpful to clock one more attraction and meal in the morning.
During my stay at Mercure Lujiazui Shanghai, I found that its location truly enhances convenience, especially for travelers like me who rely on public transit. Just a short 3-minute walk from the Changyi Road metro station served by Lines 14 and 18, the hotel offers quick connections to key spots around Shanghai. The proximity to Shanghai Pudong International Airport also meant I could hop on the Metro and Maglev for approximately 35 minutes, which is both time-efficient and budget-friendly, costing less than $10 per person. The Premier King Room was surprisingly spacious and well-thought-out for travelers carrying luggage or shopping bags. I appreciated the separate toilet with a bidet and heater seat, along with a separate shower area—these features added to the comfort of my stay. Complimentary toiletries plus canned drinks and mineral water felt like nice touches. Having access to an in-house gym and laundry facilities was a big plus for a mid-length city trip. As someone who values convenience, it’s worth noting the hotel’s multiple lift lobbies, which helped reduce wait times and made accessing different floors easier. On the downside, the hotel lacks a dedicated driveway, so arriving by car can be a bit tricky; the nearest parking area is a small carpark beside the Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic next door. Also, the walk from the metro exit is not fully sheltered, which may be an inconvenience if the weather turns bad. The bathroom lacks hooks, and storage options like clothes hangers are somewhat limited. I noticed that different room configurations impacted the view — one with a sofa had a ledge blocking the window view, while another without a sofa offered a clearer outlook. Since the hotel is just five stories tall, the view wasn’t a major factor for me but is worth considering if you prefer a scenic outlook. One of the best experiences was the flexibility at check-in and checkout. I was able to check in from noon and was even granted a one-hour late checkout upon politely asking, which allowed me to squeeze in an extra attraction and meal before leaving. Overall, if you’re looking for a cozy, accessible, and convenient hotel in the Pudong New Area close to transport and amenities like Aldi supermarket and Family Mart, Mercure Lujiazui Shanghai is a solid choice. It blends value with comfort, making it ideal for solo travelers, couples, and small families exploring Shanghai.
