My little guy seemed okay initially, which made it even scarier, but the X-rays quickly confirmed the problem. At the vet, they'll likely perform X-rays, just like they did for my puppy, to locate the AirPods and assess for any immediate dangers. Depending on the location and how recently it was swallowed, options can range from induced vomiting (done safely under veterinary supervision) to endoscopy, where a camera is used to retrieve the object. In more severe cases, surgery might be necessary if the object has moved further into the intestines or caused an obstruction. Every minute counts when dealing with potential battery ingestion. This whole ordeal was a huge wake-up call for me. It really hammered home the importance of keeping all gadgets, wires, medications, and small items securely out of reach. Dogs, especially curious puppies, will chew on anything that smells interesting or looks like a toy.
