Crystal Palace

Hey everyone! If you're looking for an amazing day out in London that feels a little different from the usual tourist spots, you absolutely have to check out Crystal Palace. I recently spent a fantastic day there, and I'm so excited to share my top picks for things to do, eat, and explore. It really feels like a vibrant, unique corner of the city! First off, you can't go to Crystal Palace without visiting the iconic Crystal Palace Park. This place is massive and full of surprises. My absolute favorite part was seeing the famous Victorian dinosaur sculptures – they're wonderfully quirky and a bit surreal, definitely a great photo op! It's so cool to think they've been there since the 1850s. Beyond the dinosaurs, the park itself is just gorgeous for a stroll. There's a huge maze that's fun to get lost in (I did!), a beautiful lake where you can often spot geese and swans, and plenty of open green spaces perfect for a picnic on a sunny day. I loved just wandering around, soaking up the history and the peaceful atmosphere. After exploring the park, make your way up to Crystal Palace Triangle. This is where the area truly comes alive with its independent spirit! The Triangle is basically the intersection of Westow Hill, Church Road, and Gipsy Hill, and it's absolutely packed with unique shops, cozy cafes, and fantastic restaurants. I spent ages browsing the vintage stores – you can find some real treasures if you're patient! There are also lovely boutiques, art galleries, and bookshops that make window shopping (or actual shopping!) a real pleasure. Speaking of food, the Triangle has an incredible food scene. I grabbed a delicious brunch at one of the independent cafes, and the coffee was just divine. Later, I spotted so many tempting options for dinner, from artisanal pizza to international cuisine. It's a great place to just sit, people-watch, and enjoy the local vibe. Don't forget to check out some of the traditional pubs too; they have a really welcoming, local feel. One thing I absolutely adored about Crystal Palace is the views! Because it's on a hill, you get some truly stunning panoramic vistas of London. I found a few spots in the park and near the Triangle where you could see for miles across the city skyline. It's a great reminder that you're still in London, but in a wonderfully elevated and green oasis. To make your visit even smoother, getting to Crystal Palace is super easy – the Overground connects it well, and there are plenty of bus routes. I'd recommend spending at least half a day, if not a full day, to really soak it all in. Whether you're into history, nature, quirky art, or just good food and unique shopping, Crystal Palace has something for everyone. It quickly became one of my new favorite London spots, and I can't wait for you to discover its charm too!
